F#unctional Londoners / Last-Fi -An F# powered Raspberry Pi internet radio

Please RSVP for instructions on how to join the event.

Description

This talk will introduce what might seem like an unlikely combination - functional programming with F# and the Raspberry Pi. You will see how powerful functional abstractions and succinct code can make prototyping and programming with the Pi a breeze. Expect to see interfacing with hardware inputs and outputs, painless asynchronous programming, F# type providers, an F# to JavaScript compiler and much more besides! The result is a (primarily) Last.Fm powered radio station, with an LCD screen, controller support, a website, and a bunch of other stuff all brought together with ease using one amazing programming language!
