Reactive Architectures are the next major evolution of the Internet. They allow for applications to be built in a completely non-blocking, asynchronous, and reactive manner. The Play Framework fully embraces this new paradigm of programming which allows developers to write asynchronous applications using either Scala or Java. In this hands-on session we will be building a reactive Play application. The application will use Play to asynchronously read from a web service and stream it to the client using web sockets and JSON. In building this sample you will learn the basics of how a Play application is structured and the tools it provides for building event-driven applications.
