CodeKen 2012 / High Performance Asynchronous Event Sourcing (using Scala, Akka and MongoDB)

Please RSVP for instructions on how to join the event.

Description

Event Sourcing is proving a popular alternative to in-place mutation of object-oriented domain models. It provides a better model for the high volume event capture needs of typical ‘big data’ applications. and offers some significant benefits during query of that data. In this presentation we will look at how Event Sourcing works, and how it can be implemented in a highly performant way using an asynchronous programming model backed by a NoSQL database. A case study will be used to demonstrate the concepts using the Scala programming language, the Akka concurrency framework and MongoDB for persistence.
