Yes, this is intentional - see [link:research.microsoft.com]. (That specification doesn't define the ordering imposed on union constructors, but indeed for an enumeration it is and will always remain the obvious left-to-right ordering)

How likely is it for the ordering of unions to be specified? I really like the current implementation; it seems very natural and I haven't run into any cases where it got in the way. If there are scenarios I'm not considering, it would be nice to have the current behavior be specified in some way.

I notice that if I define a union like:
type LogLevel = Debug | Info | Warning | Panic
That I can compare the values
Debug < Info // true
But I don't seen anything about this in documentation. Is this intentional and here to stay?
