Rendering View<not a string> - is there a preferred approach

Suppose my model has views of various types such as int DateTime and indeed home-grown types. To use UI.Next I end up with various View<'t> objects which I now want to render.

So I write something like:

    v |> View.Map (fun i-> string i) |> Doc.TextView

or

    v |> Doc.BindView ( fun i-> string i |> text)

which works. But:

  • Is there a method on Doc or whatever which does more or less the same thing which I've overlooked and should be using instead?
  • Is there any important difference between these two approaches which should lead me to prefer one to the other?

  • There is no library function that does the string conversion, but you can of course write one in a small library of your own.
  • The textView version should be slightly more optimized, as it creates a single Text node and modifies its value instead of creating a new Text node on every change.
