As one of the administrators, I'm hoping it is viable. I created this site because I wanted a place for forums on F# and its usage.
Regarding spam, we try to monitor every day, but some days (weekends usually), we are unable to monitor round the clock for spam.
I haven't had a chance to test these forums on IE9 yet, so I can't comment on usability.
We currently have three people that monitor the site for spam and attempt clean up. Let me know if you or anyone else is interested in lending a hand in this. This is a 4 year old version of Community Server where some of the spam filters clearly are not catching things.
email me @ os <( @ )> jjbresearch.org or respond on this thread.
My apologies for delays in clean up, especially when it is a period where I am unable to respond quickly.

Hi optionsScalper, thanks for the reply. Actually most of the time I don't notice any spam, sorry I think I was overreacting to the immediate situation when the site appeared to have been completely taken over.
Yes I'm happy to help clean things up.
On IE 9 I'm not getting any formatting, and it's clear that new posters on whatever browsers they are using are copying and pasting and it's not turning out right.
Anyway sorry for overreacting, this is a great forum and I was just shocked to see the thousands of spam posts over the weekend.

Note that should this forum be down, I'd personally recommend posting on stackoverflow. The F# response rate there is very good.
Kind regards
don

A single new user has brought down the forum with spam. Is there a technical problem with rules? Is there a problem with user authentication?
Also html posting is still not working (testing on IE9). So, although this is a forum about a programming language where formatting is significant, it is not possible to post formatted code (without hacks).
The existence of a forum is very important to the F# language.
Can this forum be fixed? Should we move to a forum at MSDN forums or some other site? A dedicated site is more friendly and may get deeper and more interesting threads... but working is better than non-working.
